6th Form Tutor Challenge
Lockdown has struck again. It’s Groundhog Day, day in day out. Screen time is at crazy levels for everyone with online learning and social time.
We wanted to try and be together whilst apart in the 6th form and try and move away from the screens, so we have created a challenge everyone can contribute to.
Over this lockdown we set the challenge to collectively hit 2021 miles, cook one meal a fortnight for the family & share the recipe and to try and read 100 books. All off line, change of scene, life lesson or two, get moving and enrich their current lockdown situation!
Well move over Gordon Ramsay! Those recipes & dishes are flying in! I’m so impressed with the culinary skills of our students. We’ve had curries, tacos, paella, pasta, fish dishes that all look incredible!
The staff have also been sending in their recipes including our leader Mr Cropper with his signature dish ‘Toad in Hole’, a chicken pie from Mrs Stephens and a range of vegan and GF meals from Mrs Richardson. It all looks delicious too!
The miles are being logged and I know Mr Scott and Mr Stafford have joined in the challenge to contribute to his tutor’s mileage covered. I hope to update you very soon with our running total.
Book wise a little slower on the take up, but I know we’ll get there! Staff are certainly adding their contributions, with current reads in from Mrs Cook, Miss Hitchens & Mr Gerschler. I hope that our students allow themselves to be transported to another world via the pages of a good novel soon!
As well as being good fun, we hope all these challenges allow our students to do something different and be away from the screens as well as supporting their mental health, building in physical activity and indirectly supporting their studies and literacy via reading.
Can’t wait to see the next round of dishes, see the mileage climb ever higher and get some book recommendations. Huge well done to all the students participating and giving this a go and also to the tutor team and their support in delivering this.
